FAQs
Will laser cleaning damage the surface of the metal substrate?
No. Laser cleaning utilizes the difference in absorption rates of specific laser wavelengths. When parameters are correctly set, high-energy pulses only act on contaminants like rust, paint, or grease. Due to the higher reflectivity and different melting points of the metal substrate, the laser beam will not damage the base material and can even preserve the original surface roughness.
What types of contaminants can this machine remove?
This equipment is highly versatile. It efficiently removes oxidation layers (rust, scale), paint, coatings, grease, mold residues, and even soot on historical buildings or oxidation colors after welding. By adjusting the laser frequency and power, it can be applied to carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, stone, and some composite materials.
How safe is laser cleaning? Is special protection required?
Safety is our top priority. Operators must wear specialized laser safety goggles (OD6+). Additionally, the machine is equipped with dual-stage safety switches, emergency stop buttons, and proximity sensors to prevent accidental firing. While the laser beam is controlled, it is recommended to operate in a designated laser safety area and use it with a fume extractor.
What are the advantages of laser cleaning compared to sandblasting or chemical cleaning?
Laser cleaning offers revolutionary benefits: 1) No consumables (except electricity), resulting in very low long-term operating costs; 2) Zero pollution, as it is a dry, green process that produces no secondary waste; 3) Non-contact, meaning no mechanical stress on parts; 4) High precision, capable of cleaning corners that are hard to reach via traditional methods.
Are the lenses in the laser head easily damaged? Is maintenance expensive?
The laser head is robustly built. The only consumable is an inexpensive protective lens, which prevents spatter from damaging the core optics. A protective lens typically lasts 200-500 hours with proper care. The entire machine is virtually maintenance-free, with the fiber laser source lasting up to 100,000 hours, making operating costs much lower than alternative solutions.
What is the effective cleaning range of this handheld machine?
The standard fiber cable length is 10 meters, giving you a working radius of 10 meters. For specific needs (such as cleaning large ships or storage tanks), we can customize fiber lengths to 15 meters or more. The handheld head is lightweight and ergonomic, suitable for long-duration operations.
